Nine people were hospitalized after a three-vehicle crash near Escalon on Thursday night.

The California Highway Patrol said the crash happened on Escalon Ballota Road when a red pickup truck traveling northbound crossed the center divide and struck a white Ford pickup truck. A Jeep that was traveling behind Ford pickup wasn’t able to stop in time and rear-ended the truck.

Five of the nine people hurt were juveniles, according to the CHP. All of the injuries appear to be minor.

Investigators say it is not known if alcohol was a factor in the crash. The cause of the crash is still being investigated.
