SACRAMENTO --

Shoppers skipped big box retailers Thursday to buy gifts made right here in Sacramento. Local makers showcased their unique products at the Made in Sac Holiday Market.

From Midtown beef jerky to East Sacramento pillows, City Scout Magazine's Made in Sac event brought the best of the city to one place just in time for Christmas.

Nicolette Skidmore with City Scout Magazine said this isn't the first time they've held one of these events.

"We hosted a Made in Sac party in October. It was a huge hit, we were celebrating all things made in Sac, so when it came time for the holidays, we thought why not celebrate our makers again?" she said.

Nearly 30 local entrepreneurs set up shop at Studio 817. Not only are the products creative, but buying locally keeps the money you spend right here in the community.

If you missed Thursday's event, City Scout Magazine and Studio 817 are in talks to host more Made in Sac markets.
