Nun, 70, Dies After Being Struck By LA Hit-and-Run Driver

LOS ANGELES (AP) — A 70-year-old nun who was struck by a hit-and-run driver in an East Los Angeles crosswalk has died.

Authorities say Sister Raquel Diaz died Sunday at a hospital.

She was struck on Dec. 13 in a crosswalk at the intersection of Winter Street and Evergreen Avenue in Boyle Heights.

The car is described as a white four-door compact, possibly a Toyota or Nissan. The city is offering a $25,000 reward for information leading to the driver’s arrest.

Diaz was director of religious education at the Church of the Assumption in Boyle Heights.
