Christmas Day Shooting, Standoff Prompts Evacuation in South Sacramento

An early morning shooting in South Sacramento has prompted a small evacuation near Stockton Boulevard and Fruitridge Road.

According to the Sacramento County Sheriff’s Department, a man shot a gun inside a home along Thurman Way shortly before 4:30 a.m. No one was hit.

A woman was able to leave the home unharmed. Neighbors were evacuated from their homes as a precaution.

The man was eventually taken into custody after a K-9 unit went into the house. He was sent to the hospital for dog bites.
