Three windows were shattered Tuesday at the U.S. Postal Office on Hazel Avenue in Orangevale.

The windows were seemingly smashed at random. Postal Inspector Jeff Fitch said they didn’t know what was used to break the windows or how it happened.

Sheriff’s investigators say they had a report of shots fired, but there was no evidence to support that.

There were no injuries to customers or employees.

The postmaster is investigating and said the crime is a federal offense.
