The Century Theater in Downtown Sacramento is closed for "an extensive remodel and expansion," according to Century's parent company, Cinemark.

The theater will reopen in the fall as part of the $300 million Downtown Commons development, offering shopping, dining and entertainment adjacent to the Golden 1 Center.

In addition to cosmetic changes, the remodeled theater will feature upgraded technology, two additional screens bringing the total to nine, an XD premium large format screen, and luxury recliner-style seating.
