Police Investigating Officer-Involved Shooting in Stockton

STOCKTON --

The Stockton Police Department is investigating an officer-involved shooting near Stanislaus and Hemlock streets that happened on Wednesday afternoon.

Officers say they were trying to perform a vehicle check, when the suspect sped off and crashed into a wrought-iron fence and another vehicle.

The car stopped and an officer said he saw the driver toss a gun out of the car.  Two officers fired at the suspect. He is being treated for non-life threatening injuries at an area hospital.

A passenger in the vehicle was also detained.

No officers were injured in the shooting.
