A teen was hurt after a car involved in a police pursuit crashed into the yard of a home on Redwater and Sycamore in Antelope Tuesday night and hit him.

Investigators say that a sergeant tried to make a traffic stop around 7:40 p.m., but instead of pulling over the driver of the car involved took off.

The CHP sergeant followed the suspect for a short time, and tried to catch up, but lost sight of the vehicle.

The CHP sergeant later came across a crash scene where the suspect vehicle crashed in the 8900 block of Redwater Drive.

Neighbor Ethan Gates was surprised by the sound of a revving engine while he was trying to take a nap and then eventually woke up to sirens.

He and Michael Brockbank raced to find the source of the noise and found the accident scene and officers trying to resuscitate the boy.

According to the CHP, the driver of the car tried to run away on foot after the crash but officers caught up to him and made and arrest.

His passenger was arrested back at the wrecked car.

People in the area say the driver is known for speeding through the neighborhood and that there have been complaints about his behavior before.

His identity was not released Tuesday night and investigators say it's too early to list all the charges he and his passenger may face.

The teen was transported to an area hospital with major injuries.

The incident is still under investigation.
