A man was trying to enjoy a sweet treat when he began choking and crashed his SUV into a building in Sonora just before noon on Tuesday.

Steven Cook, 39, of Jamestown, was traveling southbound on South Washington Street when he started choking on a cookie, police said. He started to pull off the roadway and accidentally accelerated his vehicle into the Inns of California Gold Rush Building.

No one was injured in the crash.

Drugs and alcohol were not a factor in the crash. The type of cookie Cook choked on was not immediately known.
