SACRAMENTO --

Craft beer continues to see an outpouring of support in the Region.

An strong example of that was Friday evening's Art of Beer Invitational at McClellan.

"I mean, just in the greater Sacramento area lone, at last count which might be a few months old, we had 48 craft breweries," Event Director Jennifer Irwin told FOX40.

That's a stout increase of almost 500 percent from just seven years ago when the region only had ten craft breweries.

"The level of craft beer we have here has sort of elevated everyone's palates, so Sacramento really knows its beer and they expect the best," she added.

And craft beer really has become mainstream.

"A lot of people who maybe ten years ago wouldn't have thought twice about trying a craft beer, now really are," said Casey Carhart a NorCal beer distributor.

With more than a thousand paid at Friday's event, and nearly 20 more local brewery on the horizon, the Sacramento region is one of the countries craft beer destinations.
