Back Country, an Auburn rock and gem store, has been burglarized three times in just 18 days.

A suspect or suspects broke into the shop on Sacramento Street on Feb. 2, 6 and 19.

"The worst part is cleaning up the mess and repairing the building," said owner David Holtzinger.

The Auburn Police Department said at this point evidence shows the reason the store may be targeted is because of what is inside.

"Gold, silver or jewelry -- it is valuable so it is going to attract thieves," said Auburn police Lt. Michael Garlock.

But Holtzinger thinks it's because of who is inside.

"It's a vindictive thing, and so we'll have to go from there, figure out who I made mad. I have some ideas, but right now they're just ideas."

The Auburn PD said the suspect or suspects  pocketed some items including coins and jewelry. What's more alarming is the great lengths taken to get in. The criminals broke through a brick wall to get inside during one of the burglaries.

While the police department works to find leads, Holtzinger said he's staying positive and will keep serving customers like he has been for the last 30 years.
