California Unemployment Rate Dips to 5.5 Percent

LOS ANGELES (AP) — California’s unemployment rate unemployment rate decreased to 5.5 percent in February, down from 5.7 percent the previous month.

The state Employment Development Department said Friday that nonfarm payroll jobs totaled more than 16.3 million in February, an increase of 39,900.

The unemployment rate a year earlier was 6.7 percent.
