LOS ANGELES (AP) —

Ohio Gov. John Kasich is coming to California.

The Republican presidential candidate is penciled in for a speech at the state Republican Party convention on April 29, where he’ll get a chance to make his case to elected officials, party insiders and likely delegates to the national convention.

The California primary on June 7 is shaping up as a potentially decisive battle as Donald Trump tries to lock up the nomination and Kasich and Ted Cruz try to slow his momentum.

Cruz is expected to speak at the convention, in Burlingame near San Francisco, a day later.

Trump faces iffy odds of reaching the threshold for the party’s nomination — 1,237 delegates — before the June 7 primaries, which also include New Jersey, Montana, New Mexico and South Dakota.
