Three Victims Identified in Fatal Highway 12 Head-on Collision

SACRAMENTO --

The Sacramento County Coroner's Office has released the identities of three of the five victims in Saturday night's deadly head-on collision on Highway 12 near Rio Vista.

The accident happened at about 5:35 as the driver of a Honda Civic was travelling east on the two-lane Highway 12, near Highway 160 in Rio Vista. According to CHP Officer Michael Bradley, the woman behind the wheel of the Civic tried to pass a number of cars when she collided with a Chevy Silverado.

The three victim's who were identified early Sunday afternoon are 3-year-old Adelayana Ortiz, 17-year-old Aaliyah Buenrostro and 21-year-old Annalicia Montoya. According to the coroner's office, all three victims are from Modesto.

The identities of the remaining victims will be released after the families are notified.

It is not known which person was driving the vehicle at the time, however, four of the five passengers -- two women, a teenager and one toddler -- died on the scene. One other 3-year-old girl in the car was transported to the hospital with serious injuries, but later succumbed to her injuries.

All four passengers in the Silverado suffered minor injuries and recovering in the hospital.
