Hundreds Gather for Awards Dinner Honoring Global Peacemakers

SACRAMENTO -- Speakers from across the globe gathered at Sacramento State, Saturday to celebrate and honor those working towards a more harmonious world.

The Center for African Peace and Conflict Resolution's Awards dinner is an annual event, but this year they celebrated a quarter century's worth of peace efforts in Africa and African communities around the world including Sacramento.

About three hundred people turned out for the event and enjoyed food, music and also celebrated the nights award recipients.

These awards honor people making a difference in five different categories: peace service, peace and justice, peace maker, peace education, and peace building. Four of the awards go to people in the Sacramento community and one award goes to a duo working in Nigeria.

The director of the Center for African Peace and Conflict Resolution and, a Sac State professor Dr. Ernest Uwazie says the award recipients have lessons to teach the world.
