SACRAMENTO -- Police are investigating the death of a pedestrian, after an early morning crash.

Investigators said they received a call about a vehicle vs. pedestrian accident at the intersection of Roseville Road and Connie drive, just before 6 a.m.

"The vehicle that actually struck the man was traveling northbound on Roseville Road and there was another vehicle traveling southbound down Roseville Road and as soon as the vehicles were beginning to cross paths, the victim that was struck, walked out from behind one of the vehicles and the northbound vehicle struck the man," Sacramento Police officer, Tracy Trapani said.

When the Sacramento Fire department arrived, the man was pronounced dead.

Police said the driver remained on scene, and is being cooperative.
"We know during the preliminary investigation, the driver of the vehicle was not impaired," Officer Trapani said.

Investigators are now seeing if speed played a factor in the accident.

Roads were reopened just before 9:30 a.m.

Sacramento Police are still looking for witnesses. If you have information, call 916-808-6030
