FAIRFIELD — Solano County Sheriff’s investigators say there is still no sign of abducted Vallejo teen Pearl Pinson, but remain hopeful that she’ll be found safe.

Pinson was kidnapped last Wednesday in Vallejo by a man authorities identified as 19-year-old Fernando Castro. Castro was killed in a shootout with sheriff’s deputies Thursday in Solvang, hours after an AMBER Alert was issued for Pinson.

The Solano County Sheriff’s Office said evidence found on Castro’s phone and in his car led detectives to the Jenner area of Sonoma County. The search there was called off over the weekend after there was no sign of Pinson.

Detectives are also searching for Pinson’s backpack, which is purple and green, and features an image of the comic book villain, the Joker.

Anyone with information about the Pearl Pinson case is asked to contact the Solano County Sheriff’s Office at (707) 7841963. If it’s urgent, callers can contact Solano Dispatch at (707) 421-7090 or call 911.
