MADERA — A large mastiff was successfully rescued Friday after being trapped under a handicap access deck in Madera.

Several residents of Berry Drive grew concerned after they heard periodic barking and whimpering sounds from Rocko Thursday night.

Friday morning, neighbors came together and attempted to locate the animal, fearing it was in distress.

Eventually Rocko was rescued. It’s unknown how long the dog was trapped under the handicap deck.

Rocko was transported to the Madera County Animal Shelter after animal control helped get the dog out from under the deck.
