Gary Gelfand is in Midtown Sacramento as the town kicks off day one of the 3rd annual "Sacratomato Week" and festival.

Running from July 13-23, the week will consist of tomato-based recipes as local bars and towns participate in celebrating Sacramento's signature commodity: the tomato.

Most Sutter District bars and restaurants are participating in “Sacratomato Week,” including: Barwest, Biba, Cafe Bernardo/Monkey Bar, Centro Cocina Mexicana, Harlow’s Restaurant & Nightclub, INK Eats & Drinks, Paragary’s Midtown and Red Rabbit Kitchen & Bar.

On Saturday there will be a  free, family friendly festival taking place on Sutter's Fort State Historic Park from 4-8 p.m.

At the festival, community members can enjoy live music, food contests, a "tomato path" area for kinds, cooking demonstrations and more.
