SACRAMENTO — The California Independent System Corporation (ISO) has declared a Flex Alert Wednesday into Thursday due to high summer temperatures.

The alert is a request for consumers to conserve electricity, especially during peak demand time from 2-9 p.m.

This means using less air conditioning and lights, especially in the late afternoon when consumption is at its peak.

Electricity supplies statewide are expected to be tight because hot days drive up energy demand causing power outages or slow transmission.
