Four Dead in Tuolumne County Plane Crash

TUOLUMNE COUNTY -- A small plane crashed at the Columbia Airport in Tuolumne County on Wednesday evening, according to Cal Fire.

Four people were killed in the crash, according to the Tuolumne County Sheriff's Office. Their identities have not been released.

Sheriff's officials said the aircraft was coming in for a landing from the north. The plane hit the runway, veered into nearby vegetation and became engulfed in flames.

The fire spread into nearby vegetation. The fire has since been contained.

The NTSB is expected to arrive Thursday to investigate.
