Middle-schoolers in Rocklin are getting a taste of what it takes to carry the badge and wear the blue.

The Rocklin Junior Police Academy takes dozens of kids going into the 7th, 8th and 9th grades and teaches them what the world of police work is all about. That includes running them through traffic stop procedures and CSI techniques.

The weeklong course gives students a glimpse of the six and a half month academy real officers graduate from, giving police officials another way to connect to the communities they serve.

A total of 28 students graduated today, eight more than the original 20 expected to participate.
