Sheriff’s Department: Woman Arrested in Shooting of 6-Year-Old in South Sacramento

SACRAMENTO — A woman was arrested in Oroville on Saturday, four days after she allegedly shot a 6-year-old girl in South Sacramento, according to the Sacramento County Sheriff’s Department.

The shooting happened July 26 on Fruitridge Road and Lawrence Drive when, sheriffs say, 21-year-old Adreiona Taylor fired several shots at a vehicle. The 6-year-old, who was the passenger in the car with her mother, was shot in the arm and suffered non life-threatening injuries.

According to officials, detectives discovered Taylor and the child’s mother knew each other and had disagreements leading up to the shooting. Authorities are still searching for the driver of the vehicle Taylor was riding in when she fired the shots. The car is described as a white, ’90s model sedan.

Taylor, who is ineligible for bail, was arrested for assault with a deadly weapon and booked into the Sacramento County Jail.
