FAIRFIELD -- A 16-year-old boy was arrested early Monday after a deadly shooting in Fairfield.

Fairfield police say officers responded to North Texas Street and Atlantic Avenue, near Fairfield High School, around 8 p.m. There, investigators found a teen boy with several gunshot wounds.

The boy, also 16, later died at the hospital, police said. Police did not identify the victim, but said he and the suspect knew each other and an argument likely led up to the shooting.

Fairfield SWAT officers arrested the 16-year-old suspect shortly after 5 a.m. Monday  on Bristol Lane, about two and a half miles from the shooting scene.
