Each week FOX40 recognizes the men and women who go above and beyond to serve their community.

Today we salute Rene Reyna-Tobar for helping victims of physical and emotional trauma and teaching those skills to others. In the classroom, he focuses on showing his students at Beale Air Force Base how to deal with an emergency. The class is called "Self-Aid Buddy Care." It's a skill Rene Reyna-Tobar says is vital for airmen like himself.

Reyna-Tobar does much more than teach ...

He's a medic in the Air Force Reserves, works part-time as a tech at Sutter Health and studies to be a nurse practitioner full-time -- All this while running a non-profit helping victims of PTSD.
