FOX40 NEWS today welcomes Nikki Laurenzo as the newest member of its evening anchor team.  Laurenzo will join the weekday PM team of Anchor Ty Steele, Sports Director Jim Crandell and Chief Meteorologist Kristina Werner on September 6, 2016.   Laurenzo will co-anchor FOX40’s weekday 5pm-6:30pm and 10pm-11pm newscasts.

Laurenzo brings a wealth of experience to the FOX40 NEWS team.  She’s currently the main evening anchor at KCEN-TV, the NBC station in Waco, Texas where she’s been since 2010.   Prior to her work in Texas, she worked for 5 years at KTVQ in Billings, Montana.   Laurenzo’s journalistic work has been honored with an Edward R. Murrow Award in 2015 for Breaking News for the Fort Hood Shooting and a Lone Star Emmy Award in 2014 for News Special on West Remembered.

A well-rounded anchor, Laurenzo feels comfortable in breaking news scenarios.  She said, “Experiencing the situation live, with the viewer, and helping to bring clarity to an unknown is an important role.  I feel privileged and honored that I am able to help deliver information in times of need.”  She added, “I’m very excited to be coming to Sacramento while it is growing at such an immense pace.  The vibrancy of the downtown has a strong draw for me, and I can’t wait to uncover stories here for Sacramento, Stockton and Modesto.”

FOX40 Vice President and News Director Ed Chapuis said, “Nikki will be a strong asset to our station.  Not only is she a solid news anchor, Nikki has a deep desire to give back to the community. She will be an excellent ambassador for FOX40 NEWS.” Laurenzo previously has worked with several non-profit organizations and feels it’s very important to help those in her community who are in need.
