Officials: Clayton Fire in Lake County Grows to 600 Acres, Forces Evacuations

LAKE COUNTY -- A 600-acre fire south of Lower Lake in Lake County has forced multiple evacuations, according to Cal Fire.

The Clayton Fire, which started as a 15-acre blaze just before 6 p.m. Saturday evening, is burning near Highway 29 and Clayton Creek. The fire grew to 600 acres by 9:45 p.m., and is 15 percent contained.

According to Cal Fire, evacuations were ordered for these areas in Lower Lake: Cantwell Ranch Road, Morgan Valley Road, Riata Road, Teklas Road Hale, Daly Hill, Teklas, Spruce Grove Road to Noble Ranch Road and Ellen Springs.

Evacuated residents are being directed to the Highlands Senior Center in Clearlake.
