ELK GROVE — Two Elk Grove schools are briefly put on lockdown Tuesday morning after a nearby shooting.

The Sacramento County Sheriff’s Department said the shooting happened near the Lowe’s home improvement store on Power Inn, which is just to the northwest of Monterey Trail High School and Edward Harris Jr. Middle School.

Investigators say no one was hit in the shooting, and they had someone detained.

School officials say the precautionary lockdown began around 8:15 a.m. and lasted about 30 minutes. A note was to be sent to parents explaining the situation.
