SAN JOAQUIN COUNTY — Deputies arrested a 29-year-old man on suspicion of attempted murder after he allegedly stabbed another man with a steak knife.

Shortly after midnight, deputies responded to east Main Street in Stockton for a report of a stabbing.

Deputies found a 35-year-old man with a stab wound to the upper abdomen. The man was taken to a nearby hospital for treatment. He is expected to survive.

Deputies found the suspect, identified as Carl Thomas Gepford, on Anteros Avenue in Stockton. He was taken into custody. Deputies also located the knife that was allegedly used in the stabbing.
