RIO LINDA -- Several drivers in the Rio Linda area have experienced flat tires in recent months due to crude spike strips made of rubber hoses and rusty nails.

Most of the spike strip damage has occurred on U Street in Rio Linda, though one case was at the intersection of 24th and I streets, according to news outlet Rio Linda Online which has been keeping track of the incidents and sharing pictures online.

Rio Linda Online reports there have been at least six cases between April and August of this year.

When reached on Labor Day, a spokesman for the Sacramento Sheriff's Department said he did not have additional information on these cases and directed FOX40 to the Fulton El-Camino Parks Police Department which has disseminated information about the crimes.
