Man Hit by Light Rail Train Near College Greens Station

SACRAMENTO — A 79-year-old man was hit and killed by a Sacramento RT light rail train near the College Greens Station on Tuesday afternoon.

The man was hit about 3 p.m. The operator of the train left the station before realizing the pedestrian had been hit.

According to RT officials, the man was attempting to jump between train cars when he fell under the train.

The Gold Line is not running in the area. A bus bridge has been set up between the University/65th Street Station and the Watt/Manlove Station.

Officials are still investigating and will review video footage to determine how the accident happened.
