Suspect Shot in Lodi After Charging Officers with a Bat

LODI -- Two Lodi police officers were injured after they were struck by a man with a baseball bat on the 600 block of North Sunset Drive on Tuesday night.

When officers arrived to the scene, 18-year-old Marcus Amann was armed with a baseball bat and was threatening to get a gun.

He then attacked both officers with the bat. During the attack, officers deployed a Taser which proved to be ineffective.

Authorities are reporting that one of the officers shot Amann multiple times while being attacked with the baseball bat.

Amann was taken to an area hospital where he underwent surgery. He is in critical condition.

One officer reportedly received a broken arm during the incident. Both were treated and released.
