Big Rig Fire Snarls Traffic on Highway 50 in Rancho Cordova

RANCHO CORDOVA -- A big rig fire caused a major traffic backup on westbound Highway 50 near Sunrise Boulevard on Monday afternoon.

Thick, black smoke could be seen rising from the big rig. Flames spread to nearby grass. The fire started after a big rig vs. pickup truck crash.

The fire has snarled traffic on both sides of the highway.

According to Caltrans, the fire damaged the highway.

FOX40 has a crew on the way to the scene.
