RANCHO CORDOVA -- Doing something for the first time can be a little unsettling -- so why not practice first.

As part of a Sacramento County program, 20 schools in the county will be holding mock elections for its students not old enough to vote yet.

"We are trying to give them a real life voting experience," Sacramento County Spokesperson Kim Nava said.

Cordova and Folsom high schools held their elections today.

"It makes me feel like I'm an adult," Cordova student Leo Sonnik said.

With real ballots and voting booths everything about the process is simulated as authentic.
