PLACERVILLE -- A Placerville McDonald's had a special celebration Wednesday for a very special employee.

Paul Voss has Down syndrome, but customers agree, for the last 30 years he's been a great employee.

A crowd of people waited to surprise him and celebrate his accomplishment of working at the location on Broadway in Placerville for three decades.

"I make sure everything is all cleaned," said Voss.

Voss is the Lobby General. He has a lot to do every day to keep the restaurant tidy and customers notice.

"He does that best job than any of the employees here," said customer Debbie Goff.

His bosses do too. They said Voss doesn't call out sick, he only takes vacation once a year and most importantly, he has a good attitude.

McDonald's didn't discriminate. He was given a chance like any other new hire in 1986 and it stuck. It's something his family said they'll always be grateful for.

"It just has made a big difference in his life to be able to go someplace every day and feel like he can make a difference," said his mom Rita Voss.
