MANTECA -- A Manteca family is asking the public to help them find their brand new car that was stolen as they were packing it for a trip to Disneyland.

Christina Fatzer says her husband started the car at about 6 a.m. Nov. 5 to warm it up for their girls. She says they put an expensive stroller, two car seats, clothes, costumes and toys in their 2016 Kia Sorrento, and as they were grabbing their kids to leave, someone hopped in and took off.

"I already had them in my arms, so we didn't think anything. If I had known how bad it is here and that someone could be watching us, I wouldn't say that," Christina Fatzer said.

The family of four was on their way to the theme park for a family wedding. They say as the thieves peeled out of their driveway, their dress clothes for the wedding fell out of the back, so they were able to recover those items.

"We heard a big boom, and then they were going really fast, and then my dad tried to catch them and they got away, and then we just called the police fast," Fatzer's 4-year-old daughter Liana said.

The family called police and then rented a van to get to Southern California.

"It's teaching my girls that you have to have a positive mindset. You don't let something that is out of your control ruin something that you have planned," Fatzer said.

They want their car to be recovered, and the thieves caught, but more than anything, they want parents to learn from their story and make sure they keep and eye on their belongings and their kids when loading their cars.

"My daughter, I looked back and she saw the whole thing. That's when it hit me, 'OK my car is gone, but my daughter is right there,'" Fatzer said.

The car is a dark blue-grey 2016 Kia Sorrento with a Disneyland license plate frame. The license plate number is 7KEV000.

The Fatzer's said it appeared that a second car was involved in the incident. They say a small, dark-colored compact car sped away from the scene right behind their stolen car.
