More Than Birds Offered at Turkey Giveaway

Sacramento — Along with the 2,000 turkeys handed out at Luther Burbank High School in South Sacramento Tuesday morning was a chance for community members to check in on there overall health.

The ‘Thanksgiving Healthy Family and Turkey Giveaway’ allowed those in the community to get free dental exams, health screenings, flu shots, and even haircuts.

The event is put on by Assembly member Jim Cooper who represents Sacramento, Galt, Lodi and Elk Grove he says he specifically picks this location for the giveaways.

“It’s tough out here, they are struggling to put food on the table and gas in the cars, so when we have a chance to help some people that are less fortunate that’s the right thing to do,” Cooper told FOX40.

Half of the 2,000 turkeys were donated by Grocery Outlet, the giveaway was on a first come first serve serve basis.
