SQUAW VALLEY — A bear being chased by coyotes was aided by a Placer County Sheriff’s deputy who caught the whole thing on camera.

The Placer County Sheriff’s Office posted the video Saturday morning. In it the bear is seen running along Highway 89 at Squaw Valley. The animal has a visible limp as it runs from the two coyotes.

The dashcam video shows the deputy driving his patrol car at the chase in an attempt to break it up.

The coyotes can then be seen racing away from the vehicle as the bear goes in the opposite direction and into the darkness.

An additional deputy later tried locating the bear to check on its well-being. There have been no reports regarding whether or not the bear was found and in what condition it is in.
