Levee Upgrade Breaks Ground in West Sacramento

WEST SACRAMENTO -- An upgrade to a crucial West Sacramento levee broke ground Tuesday.

The project stretches six miles, and includes the Southport neighborhood and a wildlife habitat.

Levee improvement efforts in the area began after Hurricane Katrina, when voters approved a tax hike for projects like this.
