SOUTH SACRAMENTO -- Two teens were shot and killed in broad daylight along Fruitridge Road on Thursday, according to the Sacramento County Sheriff's Department.

The shooting happened near 5200 Fruitridge Road and Stockton Boulevard around noon on Thursday. When deputies arrived on scene, they found two male victims on the ground in the parking lot of a strip mall. They were both pronounced dead at the scene.

Fruitridge is blocked from 48th Street to Stockton Boulevard.

Friends and family at the scene said the two victims were teenage brothers. The family has identified the brothers as Robert and Sergio Murti.

Family says the two were walking to the store when they were gunned down.

Family also said the brothers' uncle was shot and killed last year in a homicide that remains unsolved.

Witnesses heard several gunshots in the area and observed at least two suspects in a light-colored SUV flee the scene east of Fruitridge Road.

The motive of the shooting is unknown at this time. But detectives said they don't believe the shooting was random.
