OAKDALE — Stanislaus County sheriff’s deputies were searching for a missing swimmer in Woodward Reservoir near Oakdale.

About 1:40 p.m., the sheriff’s department received 911 calls about a swimmer missing at the reservoir.

Crews with the Stanislaus County Sheriff’s Department and Stanislaus Consolidated Fire searched the water and found the body of a 51-year-old man.

The man’s identity is not known.

A sheriff’s department spokesperson says the water this time of year is pretty high because of the wet winter Northern California had.

The man was not wearing a life jacket.

The Modesto Bee originally reported the missing swimmer was said to be a teenage boy, but the sheriff’s department later said a 51-year-old man was found in the water.
