SACRAMENTO -- The Sacramento Sheriff's Department is investigating an officer-involved shooting on Fair Oaks Boulevard.
The incident happened just before 4 p.m. Wednesday between Plumeria Avenue and Monte Park Avenue.
Authorities say it all started when a mother called 9-1-1, saying her adult son had threatened to kill her, and that he was coming back to her house with a gun.
"[She] Locked herself in a garage during that time and at some point was able to escape the house and jump over fences," Sheriff Spokesperson Tony Turnbull said.
A sheriff deputy, and a nearby Fulton El Camino park ranger responded to the scene where the son, a 24-year-old adult male, was out front of the house.
"As our officers went to make contact with them he pulled out a hand gun, leveled it at our officers... And our officers discharged their firearms at the suspect striking him," Turnbull said.
The suspect died from his injuries.
No deputies were injured.
