SACRAMENTO — A man whose body was recovered from the American River Sunday morning has been identified.

Roseville resident Brian Hazel, 21, went missing in the river near the Sacramento Waldorf School and the San Juan Rapids Saturday evening.

Crews and family members joined together to search for Hazel throughout the night. When Sacramento Metropolitan Fire District and Sacramento Sheriff’s Department personnel, aided by his family, continued their efforts Sunday they discovered his body.

Officials have not reported the incidents leading up to Hazel’s disappearance or the exact cause of his death. The coroner’s office listed his death as an “accident.”
