MODESTO -- A large fire in Modesto is sending up a huge plume of black smoke.

The fire is burning at an auto wrecking yard near Highway 99 and Crows Landing Road.

It was not immediately clear what caused the fire. Firefighters say there is also a grass fire in the area, but they are not sure which fire caused the other.

Four firefighters were hospitalized for heat-related injuries.

Fires at auto wrecking yards are known to burn for quite some time, so firefighters expect to be on scene for a while.
