NORTH SACRAMENTO -- Detectives and crime scene investigators have taped off a block of a North Sacramento neighborhood to investigate a homicide.

Sacramento Police Department officials report a man was stabbed in the area of Dixieanne Avenue and Empress Street during a fight with another man.

It is not known what led up to the altercation between the two men, who knew one another.

Officers were called to the scene around 5:20 a.m. and located the man in the street with stab wounds. He was given CPR and later died at a local hospital.

At a home just a few blocks away from the scene of the stabbing, officers located the other man. He has been detained as a person of interest.

For Dale Hurd, who just moved to the area from San Jose, the crime tape and police vehicles were an unsettling scene.

"Kind of makes me feel like, did I just move into the wrong neighborhood?" Hurd said.

The area will be closed off for an unknown number of hours as detectives continue their investigation.
