Flight from Sacramento to Long Beach Turns Back After Bird Strike

SACRAMENTO — A Southwest Airlines flight headed from Sacramento to Long Beach had to turn back Sunday night after experiencing a bird strike, airport officials said.

Sacramento International Airport Spokeswoman Laurie Slothower said the pilot of the plane was able to get turned around and land safely without incident about 6:25 p.m.

There were 113 passengers and five crew members on board. No one was injured.

The aircraft is being inspected.
