Woman Dies after Being Hit along Cap City Freeway

SACRAMENTO -- A woman was killed early Thursday evening after she was hit by a car along eastbound lanes of the Cap City Freeway.

According to the California Highway Patrol, a 28-year-old man,  driving a BMW rear-ended an Audi driven by 59-year-old Xiai Li Chen.

Witnesses say the two confronted each other outside of their cars on northbound Business 80 at the E Street exit. The man tried to drive his vehicle to the shoulder, Chen followed on foot.

According to the CHP, Chen approached the man's car on the driver's side, something happened that caused her to fall and she was ran over by the rear wheel of the BMW.

The driver of the BMW got out  and administered first aid.

Chen  was taken to the UC Davis Medical Center, where she was pronounced dead.

Investigators say the two did not know each other.

The incident happened around 7 p.m., when evening traffic was still heavy.

Alcohol was not involved and the driver of the BMW has not been charged.

CHP is still looking witnesses of the incident.
