SACRAMENTO --The Sacramento City Council's recently approved amendment to an ordinance regarding homeless people goes into effect today.
The ordinance prohibits sitting or lying down at City Hall during business hours, while allowing people to be present on the grounds during overnight hours from 9 p.m. to 6 a.m.
City officials say the new ordinance will help maintain a suitable environment for city employees.
Although the ordinance is going in effect, the City of Sacramento said they do not have any enforcement planned at this point.
But, around 8 a.m. Thursday, the did begin alerting people about the ordinance.
The City also said they are trying to connect people with the resources about places they can go.
