‘Suspicious Circumstances’ Prompt Shelter in Place at Sac International Terminal A

SACRAMENTO — Officials issued a brief order to shelter in place at Sacramento International Airport’s Terminal A as deputies investigate “suspicious circumstances” early Thursday afternoon.

Airport officials said deputies were investigating a suspicious package or bag, which was later determined to be harmless.

Travelers in the terminal who had already passed through security were told to shelter in place, while people on the other side of security were told to evacuate.

Terminal B was not affected.

According to the airport’s website, some arrivals appeared to be running behind though it was unclear if the delays were because of the investigation.

This is a developing story.
