SOUTH SACRAMENTO -- Southbound Highway 99 experienced closures at Fruitridge Road due to a two-vehicle collision near the Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard exit.
Just before 4 a.m. Thursday, a man driving southbound on Highway 99 in a Peterbilt big rig hit a Roadtech paver occupied by two men.
The big rig driver crossed over into a construction zone in lane four that was separated from the other lanes by cones.
The big rig tipped over, spilling the scrap aluminum contents of its trailer across the lanes of Highway 99. Approximately 80 gallons of diesel fuel also spilled in the roadway.
The big rig driver and one of the Roadtech paver occupants were transported to a local hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
Due to the collision, all southbound lanes were closed at Fruitridge Road.
Around 8:45 a.m., lanes one and two were reopened.
